Well-being at Work

People are an organisation’s biggest and most important asset so creating a positive environment, which supports employees’ well-being, is fundamental to the success of any workplace.

Employee well-being enables an individual to thrive in their role. They are happy, healthy, motivated, engaged and fulfilled, which means that they are able to achieve their potential and perform at their best.

Impacted by workplace conditions and stress as well as personal and lifestyle factors, the risks of not supporting employee well-being are numerous and clear. According to the Health & Safety Executive, 828,000 workers suffered from new or long-standing work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2019/20, resulting in 17.9 million working days lost. And a 2020 report by consultancy firm Deloitte and mental health charity Mind estimates that poor mental health among employees costs UK employers between £42bn-£45bn each year.

So, supporting employee well-being and mental health is a priority for any organisation. But how can we do that most effectively?

In this workshop, participants will: explore the impacts of well-being and mental health in the workplace; discover how to talk effectively about mental health at work; understand how to set healthy boundaries, manage and reduce stress and exhaustion, and avoid burn out; and consider strategies for creating a positive work environment that promotes and supports employee well-being.

Participants will leave the workshop with increased knowledge and skills to support their own well-being and mental health at work, plus ideas for promoting and managing well-being for others.
