Challenging Conversations

When we have a problem with a work colleague, many of us understand that we really should discuss it with them so that we can talk things through, share perspectives, resolve any misunderstandings and then get back on track with our working relationship.

However, many of us really struggle to have these conversations. So, we often either avoid them altogether or we have the conversation ineffectively. This is a problem, since avoiding the conversation won’t make the issue go away – and, in fact, it could escalate. And mishandling the conversation could damage the relationship and potentially exacerbate the issue.

In this workshop, participants will: explore the importance of having these ‘difficult conversations’ and the impact of not doing so effectively; understand how to manage the brain’s natural reaction to conflict that can often derail these conversations; learn how to create more healthy conflict in the workplace; and work with a 7 step process to support them in structuring and delivering these crucial conversations.

Participants will leave the session with the skills, confidence and practical frameworks required to engage in effective, high quality conversations.
